Culturitical

On May 14, 2022, 5pm, we will meet the Irish artists Eve Parnell and Louis Haugh to talk Cultural Studies. Both Louis Haugh and Eve Parnell are graduates from the National College of Art and Design (Dublin, Ireland); we will explore their work “No Thing is Nothing” (2021), curated by the artist collective atelier umraum. Their work will be displayed at Alte MU, Lorentzendamm 6-8, 24103 Kiel, from May 12, 19:00 (Vernissage), until May 22, 2022. For further information on the opening hours of the exhibition, visit www.atelierumraum.de or send an email to info@atelierumraum.de.

“Eve Parnell’s and Louis Haugh’s No Thing is Nothing raises a conceptual idea which looks at empty gallery space. The collaboration encourages discussion and critical thinking about time and space within the context of art-making, by including photo contributions from over 20 galleries and museums worldwide. While pondering the implications of documenting emptiness, the artists have raised incidental observations, such as absence and memorial, the placement of values and the state of non-existence. For example, does a gallery exist when it does not contain an artwork? What is an exhibition space when it is empty? Is it possible to contain nothing?”
